Monday 28th January 2019 - 11:30 to 12:30 It was a bright sunlit morning with a sharp blue sky. It was still cold with traces of ice on the water. The two Egyptian Geese  were grazing in the meadow; so maybe they have not yet started nesting. We had very clear prolonged views of a Kingfisher . It was perched close to the path enjoying the sunshine. It was not disturbed by joggers or by a cyclist. But it did not like dogs. It flew off into the next bay but soon came back to its favoured perch in the willow shoots. Its blue and orange plumage shone in the sunlight. There were many Canada Geese  who were prompting each other into diving under the water for a wash and brush up. There are clumps of snowdrops in the wooded area along with small patches of colourful cyclamen and hellebores. A full list of the birds seen is given in the Bird Table .
