Friday 23rd August 2019 - 9:45 to 12:00 It was a hot sunny day - unusual for a Bank Holiday weekend. There are fewer Canada Geese  and the young ones are almost indistinguishable from the adults. The two adult Great Crested Grebes  were present. No sign of a young one. Sadly a terrapin  was on the nest where the Grebe had been last time. Another large terrapin was sunning on a tree stump. At the bottom of the meadow the thistles are coming into seed and they were being enjoyed by Goldfinches . The teasels will be next. A Kingfisher  made a fly-by appearance and a Grey Heron  was in the top of the trees on the island. A full list of the birds seen is in the Bird Table .
