Wednesday 1st January 2020 - 11:30 to 13:15 The first bird I saw this year was a Woodpigeon flying headlong into our dining room window. It left a lasting impression on the glass but flew off apparently OK. It was a still, grey and misty morning - probably quite mild for the start of January. 3 Cormorants were at the lake. There were plenty of Robins and most of them were singing. More Herring Gulls were with the Black-headed Gulls and one Great Crested Grebe was near the main island. A Pied Wagtail was with a Crow on the Croquet Lawn. The flood water has drained away from Grattons Park. The effects of the flood can be seen in the scoured banks of the stream and the dumped debris. Grey Squirrels abounded. A full list of the birds seen is in the Bird Table . A happy and healthy New Year to you all. Please look out for news of our coming events; including: The Bird Count Walk, The Dawn Chorus Walk and, hopefully, The Fungus Foray.
