Monday 25th May 2020 - 07:30 to 09:30 It was a beautiful morning with a cloudless blue sky and warm sunshine. There were so many baby birds on the lake it was difficult to work out which were the family groups. There were a lot of small Mallard ducklings in perhaps 4 families; groups of Canada Geese goslings of different sizes; a new family of 3 baby moorhens; the baby coots have grown considerably and there are now 4 of them. The 3 juvenile Egyptian Geese are almost indistinguishable from their parents. The 2 adult Great Crested Grebes were looking despondent that two terrapins are squatting in their nest. There was another large terrapin sunning on a log. There are hundreds of tiny froglets in the pond under the fountain. They are trying to climb out. It looks like people of placed planks and branches to help them. But they seem to be struggling in vain. A full list of birds seen is given in the Bird Table .
