Monday 10th August 2020 - 10:15 to 12:15 It was very hot and quiet. The birds were keeping out of the sun. Two Egyptian Geese were present. The various young birds are growing and are getting more like their par ents. Rafts of feathers are accumulating as the geese moult. There was no sign of the Great Crested Grebes. A full list of birds seen is given in the Bird Table . Wednesday 5th August 2020 - 10:30 to 12:30 We saw almost no small birds during our walk. It was getting hot, it is the "wrong" time of year and the heavy gang were cutting the grass in the park and the meadow. A Grey Heron was strolling in the shallows and on one of the islands. The young Mallards look just like their parents who are in eclipse now. The juvenile Canada Geese look much like their parents too - maybe slightly smaller and with less well defined head plumage. Three young Moorhen are with their parents. Three large Terrapins were basking in the sun. Great Crested Grebes are still around but seem to have given up nesting. A full list of birds seen is given in the Bird Table .
