Wednesday 19th August 2020 - 07:15 to 08:30 It was much fresher after our period of hot and humid tropical weather. It started raining at 8 o'clock and I was soaked by the time I got back home. A Grey Heron was loitering under the trees on the big island. Only one Egyptian Goose was seen. I did not find, what I was hoping for, the family of newly-hatched goslings which have been reported and photographed recently. I guess they are a second brood for our usual pair. One Great Crested Grebe was around. Still no sign of breeding and it is getting late now. There were lots of mallards . The young ones are very like their parents. Only a few Canada Geese for a change. Almost no small birds around even though I was looking earlier than usual. A full list of birds seen is given in the Bird Table . The snake of painted stones on the wall of the raised bed at the entrance to the park is brilliant and still growing. With our grandchildren we painted and added several pebbles last weekend. Our ladybird has been taken. Of course it was outstandingly created but it would be nice if it came back.
