May Day morning was fine and sunny.
There were many young water birds on the lake:
Coots
;
Mallard
;
Canada Geese
and
(well grown)
Egyptian Geese
.
They were in several groups guarded by one or more adults. It looks like there are at
least
two families of Coots
,
three of Mallard Ducks
and
maybe three broods of
Canada Geese
with more to come from nests on the islands.
One
Great Crested Grebe
was around. We could not see the second one. Let us
hope it is nesting.
In Grattons Park we heard and then found two singing male
Blackcaps
and a female
plus a
Collared Dove
.
A full list of birds seen is given in the
Bird Table
.
