It was a quiet time of year and day for the birds.
It looks like there are three recent broods of
Moorhens
. Two babies were small, fluffy
and black. The other two pairs of juveniles were older but still quite small.
The large flock of
Canada Geese
includes many of this year's young now looking
very like their parents.
There was a noisy flock of some twelve
House Sparrows
; always good to hear and
see. A
Magpie
was warning of a ginger cat prowling along the fence rail.
A
Grey Heron
was on the small island.
The pair of adult
Egyptian Geese
were together. It seems that all of their second
brood disappeared quickly.
A passer-by said that they had seen a
Kingfisher
yesterday. Nice to know that they
are still around.
A full list of birds seen is given in the
Bird Table
.
