Coal Tit, Photo: Vine House Farm
The early sunshine had clouded over by the time we set off on Mothering Sunday.
We saw a
Coal Tit
on a couple of occasions which is not usual.
One adult
Egyptian Goose
was alone. Still no sign of the other adult or the goslings.
The two
Mute Swans
are still there.
Noticeably there were
no Black-headed Gulls
at all - just a week ago there were
large noisy flocks of them. Presumably they have left to go to their breeding sites.
One
Herring Gull
sat on the lake in splendid isolation.
Two
Magpies
were mobbing a
Crow
that was perched next to an old nest.
Two of the
hybrid ducks
were still present. The smaller, "cinnamon" one was not
seen.
Some primroses are in bloom and tiny bunches of cowslips are showing. The banks
of daffodils and crocuses are lovely.
A full list of the birds seen is given in the
Bird Table
.
